Welcome Home
Green, my eccentric grandpa, proudly sits next to the
tombstone he and a large group of family will place on
the grave of his grand-father-in-law tomorrow.
Even though I live in Lexington, it’s a rarity to see my immediate family, let alone my extended family. And let me tell you, they are their own version of special… Sometimes I think we forget just how unique and interesting our family would appear to others, because that is the norm for us. So, meet the McIntosh family.
This is my beautiful grandma, Loretta.
She had five kids, and still takes care of the youngest, Steve,
who suffers from kidney failure and an occasional cancer, and
my crazy grandpa who’s deaf in one ear and blind in one eye.
This is Steve, my 42 -year- old uncle, and the youngest of five.
He’s had 3 kidney transplants, cancer, and survived a car accident that killed
all 4 of the other passengers.
This is the sister, Kristi; almost sixteen and full of attitude
and detester of family gatherings.
You know you’re a special kind of crazy when your mother yells at your father to not pose moments or look at the camera, and your relatives understand what good light is and why you cant help but take pictures of them when they’re in it.

Good pictures.
Well you’ve always been a “special” kid, Britney.
