Fights and Frats

fight night

A boxer glances out at the crowd before his fight.

I love shooting boxing. So when I saw the flier hanging on the wall outside of my class for “Fight Night” aka, unexperienced fraternity boys fighting eachother, I started a countdown very similar to one I kept as a kid for Christmas. The one problem I ran into was that I shot this last year, so trying to see things in a fresh new way was hard at times.

Mitch McConnell

I’ve got the happy, “I’m starting a new project” feeling. I spent all day with Melody and Chris in Carlilse, KY yesterday, and only shot one picture. They’re good and interesting people, and I can’t wait to sit down and type out their story and shoot more photos. More to come.

This past weekend two UK students got killed on their way home from a baptist retreat.

Its moments like these that I want to use my arms instead of my cameras.

Freshman quarterback Randall Cobb lies on the ground after Georgia takes possession of the ball after a blocked pass in the final minutes of the game, killing UK’s chances of winning.

When I rolled out of bed this morning to go shoot the UK vs Georgia game, I expected it to be another Florida repeat. But Randall Cobb and the rest of the team kicked it up in high gear… but not quite high enough. They lost 38-42 in the last minute and a half of the game. Honestly, I was bummed because Brad texted me and said if we won we were going to run a double truck of photos. I shot in double truck mode the rest of the game, only to hit a brick wall of an anticlimactic end. oh well. thats life.
